| Employment law claims are on the rise. What can you do to protect your company?
Training Human Resources and managers how to handle these complex issues is the
best solution. Experienced, practical attorneys from Felhaber can provide training sessions
for Human Resources and for supervisors, customized for your company’s workforce,
on the most important topics.
WHAT ARE THE TRAINING TOPICS?
Wage and Hour Basics
Participants will learn the federal and state
regulations and restrictions regarding how employees
should record their time, as well as the legal issues
surrounding rest and meal and breaks, working off
the clock and other critical concerns. The session
for Human Resources can be designed for generalists
or compensation and payroll specialists.
Preventing Harassment Claims
Participants will learn what “harassment” really
means, how to recognize the “warning signs” and
how to respond to complaints. The session for
Human Resources also covers how to handle
disciplinary and other complex issues.

leave, balancing FMLA and attendance issues
and avoiding FMLA claims before they arise.
The session for Human Resources can be designed
for either generalists or leave of absence specialists
and covers how to manage the FMLA process.
ADA Basics
Participants will learn their critical role in
responding to employees with medical conditions
and accommodating work restrictions. The session
for Human Resources also includes company
obligations to respond to accommodation requests
and managing the interactive process.

conducting an effective investigation and
responding to difficult situations. The session for
Human Resources also includes how to effectively
manage and document harassment complaints.
Effective Documentation of Disciplinary Issues
Participants will learn how to effectively document
poor performance or conduct violations, and how to
avoid traps along the way.
Reductions in Workforce
Participants will learn how to implement a workforce
reduction that minimizes the risk of employment
law claims. The session for Human Resources also
includes how to manage the reduction in
workforce process.
Union Contract Administration
Participants will learn how to apply the terms of
the collective bargaining and manage the employees
covered by the contract. The session will cover issues
such as the “just cause” requirement for discipline,
the employees’ seniority rights, the grievance
procedure, management rights, and union
information requests.*
WHAT DOES TRAINING INCLUDE?
Each session is geared toward front line managers and
supervisors, Human Resources generalists or Human
Resources specialists. A Felhaber attorney will review
the company policy that applies to the training topic
and customize the training so that your Human
Resources generalists, specialists or managers will learn
how to handle situations consistent with your policy
and the legal requirements. Each session will last either
90 minutes or three hours, depending upon your
company’s needs.
HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHAT IS THE COST?
You can decide which audience you want to receive
the training. Then, pick one or two topics for each
90 minute session or one to three topics for each 3
hour session. If multiple topics are covered, less
detail will be provided.
Attorneys will customize the presentation to your company’s
