WHAT ARE THE TRAINING TOPICS?

Wage and Hour Basics
Participants will learn the federal and state regulations and restrictions regarding how employees should record their time, as well as the legal issues surrounding rest and meal and breaks, working off the clock and other critical concerns. The session for Human Resources can be designed for generalists or compensation and payroll specialists.

Preventing Harassment Claims
Participants will learn what “harassment” really means, how to recognize the “warning signs” and how to respond to complaints. The session for Human Resources also covers how to handle disciplinary and other complex issues.

FMLA Basics
Participants will learn what triggers a FMLA leave, balancing FMLA and attendance issues and avoiding FMLA claims before they arise. The session for Human Resources can be designed for either generalists or leave of absence specialists and covers how to manage the FMLA process.

ADA Basics
Participants will learn their critical role in responding to employees with medical conditions and accommodating work restrictions. The session for Human Resources also includes company obligations to respond to accommodation requests and managing the interactive process.

Conducting an Investigation
Participants will learn the basic techniques for conducting an effective investigation and responding to difficult situations. The session for Human Resources also includes how to effectively manage and document harassment complaints.

Effective Documentation of Disciplinary Issues
Participants will learn how to effectively document poor performance or conduct violations, and how to avoid traps along the way.

Reductions in Workforce
Participants will learn how to implement a workforce reduction that minimizes the risk of employment law claims. The session for Human Resources also includes how to manage the reduction in workforce process.

Union Contract Administration
Participants will learn how to apply the terms of the collective bargaining and manage the employees covered by the contract. The session will cover issues such as the “just cause” requirement for discipline, the employees’ seniority rights, the grievance procedure, management rights, and union information requests.*

WHAT DOES TRAINING INCLUDE?

Each session is geared toward front line managers and supervisors, Human Resources generalists or Human Resources specialists. A Felhaber attorney will review the company policy that applies to the training topic and customize the training so that your Human Resources generalists, specialists or managers will learn how to handle situations consistent with your policy and the legal requirements. Each session will last either 90 minutes or three hours, depending upon your company’s needs.

HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHAT IS THE COST?

You can decide which audience you want to receive the training. Then, pick one or two topics for each 90 minute session or one to three topics for each 3 hour session. If multiple topics are covered, less detail will be provided.

Attorneys will customize the presentation to your company’s policies and the topics that are important to your company.

90 MINUTE PRESENTATION: $1,200**
3 HOUR PRESENTATION: $2,000**
