COBRA SUBSIDY EXTENDED
Congress has approved and the President has signed an extension of the COBRA subsidy.
The eligibility period for the COBRA premium reduction is extended an additional two months (through February 28, 2010). The maximum period for receiving the subsidy is extended an additional six months (from nine to 15 months).
If an individual had reached the end of their subsidy period before this legislation extending the subsidy to 15 months, the individual has additional time to pay the reduced premiums related to the extension.
