William
K. Ecklund, Chairman of the Board for Felhaber, Larson,
Fenlon & Vogt law firm, has been named as a delegate to the
Second National Summit on Retirement Savings. The Summit will
be convened by President George W. Bush, and co-hosted by majority
and minority leaders of Congress. The goal of the 2002 Summit
is to develop detailed action plans that will encourage retirement
savings. The Summit is the second of three summits called for
by the "Savings Are Vital to Everyone's Retirement Act of
1997" (SAVER Act).
The vision of the Summit is to create an environment
that will produce detailed action plans for targeted public education
campaigns. With a goal of encouraging retirement savings, these
campaigns will tailor approaches, messages and mediums that will
address savings issues within each generation. The Summits' delegates
will be broken into segmented groups in order to focus on a particular
generation's unique circumstances. In addition to reaching the
different generations through segmented approaches, special consideration
will be paid to issues that cross generational lines. The Summit
will be held February 27-March 1, 2002, in Washington, D.C.
