Businesses are faced with the challenge of complying with ever-evolving laws and standards, with mistakes inviting the possibility of costly litigation. Attorney Grant Gibeau helps clients navigate the challenging fields of employment law, labor law, and business litigation to avoid potential exposure and, when litigation inevitably does arise, steps in to defend and defeat claims.
Grant’s assistance and representation to businesses covers a wide range of civil matters and employment-law litigation. His experience includes navigating the potential pitfalls involved with employee terminations to drafting and revising company policies and handbook provisions. Grant additionally represents and advises clients responding to investigations/charges brought by governmental agencies such as the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and the United States Department of Labor. His litigation experience includes discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation, wage and overtime, and whistleblower claims.
In addition to employment law and other civil matters, Grant additionally practices traditional labor law, counseling clients on a wide range of union relations issues, aiding in the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, and representing clients both in labor arbitration disputes as well as before the National Labor Relations Board.
Grant also serves as a volunteer with the Minnesota Public Defender’s Office as a Special Assistant State Public Defender, where he represents indigent clients on criminal appeals pro bono, arguing – and winning – cases in front of the Minnesota Supreme Court and Minnesota Court of Appeals.
