Felhaber Larson mourns the passing of Janet Hedin Plombon.
Janet joined the Firm on September 4, 1979, as our receptionist. With no voice mail or other advanced technology, Janet received all incoming calls to the office. She would forward those calls if we were in or would take messages on pink message pads if we were out or unavailable.
Janet was the face (and voice) of the Firm for many years. She came to recognize virtually all of our callers’ voices, whether they were spouses, children or clients. Clients often would call and have such a warm and friendly talk with Janet that they would hang up afterwards, forgetting that they actually had called to speak with someone else!
After many years as receptionist, Janet transferred to our Workers Compensation team. She started out by scheduling independent medical examinations (IME’s) for the Comp process and was subsequently promoted to a paralegal position. She graduated from Inver Hills Community College (with a 4.0 GPA) in 2012 with an Associate in Science degree in Paralegal Studies.
Janet also contributed enthusiastically to the social fabric of our firm, often helping to plan and recruit for our various activities. She was especially passionate about our annual softball game where her pitching prowess often led our St. Paul office to victory.
Janet was a devoted employee who was committed to insuring the best possible service to our clients. She also was an amazing co-worker whose relentlessly positive outlook and joyous laugh lifted our spirits throughout the work day.
Janet retired in May to focus on her health and her family. She was very happy to have been able to attend the wedding of her daughter Abbie just a few weeks ago.
Janet will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her, especially her husband Mark, her daughters Breena and Abbie, and her grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, Maximus and Annabel.
Memorial arrangements are pending.
