We’re proud to highlight Sara Gullickson McGrane, a longtime employment law attorney at Felhaber Larson, who was recently interviewed by the Pioneer Press about workplace investigations in connection with a high-profile case involving the St. Paul mayor.
Drawing on her experience conducting more than 100 workplace investigations involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, Sara offered insight into how long these investigations typically take and what factors can affect their duration.
As Sara explained, the goal of any workplace investigation is to be “impartial, thorough, and prompt.” While an investigation may take anywhere from a week to six weeks, new information or additional witnesses can extend the process. As she noted, conducting a fair investigation means making sure to “turn over every stone” and follow up on relevant information that comes to light.
Sara also shared her perspective on the cost of workplace investigations, noting how attorney rates can vary based on geography and the location of the attorneys conducting the work.
